I’m back. This time with a new theme and even more content. The past couple weeks haven’t been easy; if you must know – without sounding too defensive about the lack of online activity – I was visiting Hungary (that happens to be my home country), where I was kidnapped and systematically force-fed by my relatives. So the responsible party for my absence would be in fact my family, and all complaints should be directed at them. But I’m back now, physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted, weighing a few pounds more (like I needed them), and with a happy-heavy heart.
I’ve been living abroad for the past 6 years and it was always a chore to go back home. Taking care of official business, visiting family and friends, and criss-crossing the entire country by doing so, always left me drained and glad to leave in the end. I was usually annoyed and tired beyond tired after my trip, so for 4 years I rather chose not to go at all. The family visited me instead and I took pride in showing them around my humble abode wherever I lived at the time.
This time it was different. Might be that I distanced myself or the time that has passed since my last visit, but this trip struck me with delightful surprises, and feelings of excitement, nostalgia and joy. I returned happy (although still exhausted), and it might not take me four years to go back home again.
Stay with me and I’ll tell you all about the amazing sights and the
scrumptious (fattening) bites, the challenges and the
drawbacks that I had to endure.
In the meantime, check out my photo gallery of the trip here.
